Making Apps viral - Hints
We're not the authority on making apps viral but we've learned a few things from our 6 types of apps, or 23 total apps.
1) Geography does have a lot to do with it. Our 'I am from Manchester' app did 100x times better than our 'I am from New York' app. I am surprised at the popularity of Tim Horton's apps in Canada.
2) Focus on strong bonds. You're more likely to accept an invite from a family members or a close friends. Hence the successful virility of 'We're related' or 'Top Friends'.
3) There better be dynamic content on the landing page to keep your actives up.
There are also a couple of givens which I left out of my short 3 item list. I am assuming it's a given that you are incentivising invites. And top apps have a way of increasing social capital.
Most importantly: Luck. Lucky to have a good idea, and lucky that your idea takes off.
